Upon arrival, pulling into the tight gravel driveway, we could tell this was a place we’d love. Everything was made easy by the lovely host, Gina, who greeted us and showed us the noticeboard where our names were displayed, along with the choice of pitches we could have. We had the choice of four.
The fresh water and poop drop were situated just outside the campsite gate, and next to them, in a small outbuilding, were the showers and pot washing area. Everything was spotless and incredibly well kept, a real credit to Gina, who has clearly put a lot of thought into making sure her guests have everything they could need.
There are three toilets, hot showers, a washing machine and dryer, plus little extras like a fridge, microwave, Wi-Fi, and USB charging points. There are even a few craft beers available if you fancy one after a long day exploring (obviously at a small cost).

Once we’d had a little chat with our fellow motorhomers, who couldn’t have been more helpful, it was time to choose one of our four pitch options. Looking around, it didn’t really seem to make much difference as they were all pretty level-ish. The only real difference was the tall overhanging trees, which I later realised would block out any TV signal.
Oh, and while I’m on the topic of signals… don’t expect much of a phone signal either. Even with the free Wi-Fi, mobile reception was pretty much non-existent.
Walking and Exploring
Once we were parked up, it was time to stretch our legs. We were looking forward to a walk along the seafront after all the driving, but unfortunately, unless you want to risk your life, don’t expect to get down to the beach. To do that, you’ll need to catch the local bus into Withernsea.
And if you survive the bus journey… you’ll then have to encounter the people of Withernsea.
Imagine a scene from The Walking Dead and you’ll get the picture. Sorry, people of Withernsea, but as travel bloggers reviewing the area, we have to keep it real.
It's not all bad... we have Elm Tree Farm.

Chickens, Cockerels... and Nature's Alarm Clock.
A peaceful countryside feel.
The farm is also home to sheep and plenty of other livestock.

It's Time for Some Honesty
OK, it’s time to come clean. When we booked Elm Tree Farm, we didn’t take into consideration the location, or more importantly the internet, phone, and TV signal. Unfortunately, this also happened to fall on the same evening as England vs Norway in the World Cup.
Despite trying everything possible to get a signal, we were left with little choice but to move. OK, we did have a choice, but I’m not sure Anna’s evening would’ve been much fun with me sulking all night.
we must stress, this wasn’t for any other reason than I couldn’t face missing the football. So there we have it… we packed up and left a beautiful £27-a-night campsite for a pub car park (Read Our Review HERE).
We will be back to spend another night here and add to this review, but unfortunately we can’t tell you anything other than what we experienced, and honestly, our first impressions were really good; it’s just a shame we couldn’t spend the evening there.
So, thank you to the host, Gina. You have a wonderful campsite and it’s a real credit to you. Thank you.
Things to do?
Although we didn’t spend much time exploring everything the area had to offer, because we really don’t count Withernsea as offering much for us… that’s not to say it should be discounted. For a young family looking for amusements, beaches and that traditional seaside atmosphere, I’m sure Withernsea would be perfect for you.
It just wasn’t for us, and that’s fine because everyone is looking for something different.
If that’s you, then why not check out the Get Your Guide. It’s fantastic for finding local attractions at reduced rates, and we’ve found some really good bargains that have made our time away even better.
So, if you’re like us and want a bit more from your trip, we definitely recommend giving it a look.
